How would everyone feel if in like a month or two, I relocated and changed the forum?
Does anyone have any opinons? Would anyone like to start from scratch? Anyone have any ideas on how to make it more active or any topics that we can base the forum solely on? Let me know. If no one responds but default responds to this by January 1, 2010, we will be restarting, rebuilding and probably under a different url, lol. I want everyone's input. Also, anyone know of any better forum software than serendipity? -------------------- meh.

this forum doesnt use serendipity (which is good since serendipity isnt a forum)
this forum uses invision power board, and no i dont know of any better software, if a rebuild were to take place i would integrate it with IP.Blog, which unifies logins across the foruma nd blog and allows each user to have his/her own blog as well -------------------- |

So, if we build a LAMP server and I teach myself apache, sql, etc, how much of hosting do you think i'll need? you say you have a ten tb hosting account for $15.00 a month or something? Do you use that all? -------------------- meh.

i think you have my home network confused with my webhost, 2 different things
i dont host any public web pages from my house, its against the TOS from my ISP (and yours as well) and generally frowned upon, and also uses a lot of bandwidth, i do host an internal page i use for server management and whatnot here are godaddy's hosting plans http://www.godaddy.com/Hosting/Legacy.aspx?ci=9009 i have the middle one also, it seems IPB orders posts by PID, not timestamp -------------------- |

And do you ever use a LAMP webserver and how? I need to learn. -------------------- meh.

well the godaddy host is a LAMP server with a little extra, and i also have one at home that i mess around with
Correction: the godaddy hosting servers are not LAMP servers as they use separate servers for apache and mysql -------------------- |

I feel that all in all this forum was made pretty user-friendly and it works just fine. A larger active user count would make discussions last much longer and increase threads of interest. When you only have five people posting and most of them speak to each other offline it leads to dead spots on a forum. -------------------- Here from behind my sight, my thoughts my mind

I absolutely agree, but to be perfectly realistic, I highly doubt that this forum will ever get more active than it currently is now. I don't know how to drive more traffic here and to be perfectly honest, I'm not sure if I want more traffic because that means more time (that I don't have) to spend moderating, etc. Right now I have to spend zero time moderating, changing settings, etc. If you have an idea on how to get non-assholes to join, feel free to publicize, but, as it stands now, I'd rather use this space as a learning tool so I can learn how to manage website databases, use apache, maybe even set up an invision board, etc. Plus, I think it would be nice if we kinda had our own private version of myspace/facebook, everyone with their own blog and forum and it would just be a select group of people, our group, you know? No less than ten, no more than fifty. That would be wonderful, but then we'd probably have to charge money for hosting, since, you know that many people would cost more money for hosting, etc, I don't know. I just wanna fuck with computers and not be a complete tool that's all like, "I CANZ SHOWS MY TITS FOR 'PUTERS!" (cause that's basically what I'm doing not, although not really showing my tits but definitely using the fact that I have them to my advantage, somewhat unconsciously) -------------------- meh.
